This wasn’t just a track day — it was a creative testing ground. The brief from Sigma was clear: demonstrate how their unreleased 300-600mm f/4 lens performs in a high-speed, high-pressure environment like motorsport. Every decision — from positioning on the track to how light would fall across the circuit — was shaped around getting the most from this glass.

Snetterton was chosen for its long straights, sweeping corners, and clear sightlines — the perfect playground to test compression, clarity, and colour under speed.

From pit lane to trackside, this lens delivered. The 300-600mm’s focal range allowed me to capture sharp, isolated details while keeping a safe and unobtrusive distance from the action. Autofocus kept up with the chaos — and the image quality? Crisp even at full stretch.

I worked handheld and monopod-mounted across various vantage points — following motion, tracking cars mid-corner, and timing each shot to pull character from both machine and motion. The lens didn’t just keep up — it elevated every frame.

“Frozen velocity.”
This shot was taken at 600mm, handheld, with the Sigma prototype locked onto the apex.
No blur. No compromise. Just a lens built for the unforgiving speed of motorsport — and it shows.
